Amazon has lifted the curtains on a new Kindle Fire which is expected to compete directly with the Apple iPad. The new device, which was unveiled by Amazon at a US press event, boasts an 8.9in display with a native resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. Other highlights include dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio, vastly improved Wi-Fi speeds and optional 4G LTE (US compatible).
