Kaseya mobile manager eases BYO burden

Reseller revenues to treble from consumer devices in the enterprise, says company.

Kaseya has ironed out the bugs in its mobile device management solution it said enabled the software systems management specialists' partners lift their engagement with customers and revenues.

Launched today, the Kaseya Mobile Device Management module incorporated capabilities for configuring mobile email, back up, asset visibility and security for IT professionals.

Kaseya Australia managing director Dermot McCann said its launch was delayed due to problems integrating other vendors' platforms. But he was confident its partners would see an opportunity to double their Kaseya agents and potentially to treble their revenues.

The company saw the exploding number of smartphones as an important factor in the growing number of BYO devices in the workplace, while users were using their iPads or other tablet devices in preference to corporate notebooks.

“Resellers are very excited about new revenue streams it [mobile device management] will introduce,” McCann said.

Kaseya was yet to sign partners but recently held a poll that showed strong demand given the growing interest in BYO device management in organisations.

“Sixty percent of partners said they saw an immediate business opportunity,” McCann said.

Kaseya said the mobile device management 1.0 module supported Apple iPhone, iPad and Google Android devices.

Its user interface monitored inventory and had information on hardware and capabilities to ease system administration. And it helped organisations track and lock down devices in the field.

“We know that addressing the challenges of mobile devices on the corporate network has become a mission critical operation for IT staff,” said Kaseya president Mark Sutherland.

“With our new Kaseya Mobile Device Management, global IT staff can extend the [service management] benefits to all mobile devices to reduce the cost and effort of manual remediation while enabling security and policy compliance.”

Kaseya reported that it has about 500,000 agents of its software deployed in Australia. McCann predicted “conservatively” that its mobile solution would help many partners to double their number of agents.
