Apple iPad 3 to get super bright ultra hi-res screen

The wait for Apple's iPad 3 may be a little shy of a year, but it’s going to be worth it.

The Apple iPad 3 certainly is sought after; you proved that by voting it the Most Wanted Future Gadget at the Stuff Gadget Awards 2011. Expectations of its release in early 2012 now look to amount to little more than a faster, lighter iPad 2S.

But come September the iPad 3 proper should hit the shelves – and it’s coming with a purported 2048x1536px resolution Retina display.

A super high definition screen like that needs to have the light to back it up – especially if it’s going to remain clear outside in sunlight. This is why Apple is being offered – according to Digitimes – a new dual bar LED system that keeps the screen super bright without chewing up the battery or producing too much heat.

With a resolution higher than your 40in TV at home, could this start another revolution in the world of tablets that makes your homescreen a glorified dust collector?
