The public beta of Windows 8 will be released in late February, according to sources of The Next Web.
The latest Microsoft OS, which we got a peek of the the Microsoft Windows 8 developer preview in September, will be designed to run on tablets as well as PCs and feature Windows Phone 7's "Metro" tile-based interface.
If it follows a similar timetable to Windows 7 a February release of the public beta of Windows 8 could mean that we see the official launch in time for Christmas next year.
