Nokia has offically announced the Lumia 610 NFC, a (unsurprisingly) NFC-equipped version of the budget Lumia 610 smartphone.
The Nokia Lumia 610 NFC will support MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave NFC payment systems, as well as NFC-equipped accessories and tags.
Aside from the NFC support, the Lumia 610 NFC offers the same Windows-Phone-on-a-budget experience as the Lumia 610. That means a 3.7in screen, an 800MHz processor and 256MB of RAM alongside 8GB of storage space. You also get a 5MP camera – though in a decidedly odd move, no front-facing snapper for video calls.
Microsoft-owned Skype is gearing up for the full launch of its Windows Phone app in April, and it could probably do with a helping hand from Microsoft's own Windows Phone hardware partner. For the time being, if you want Skype video calling on a Nokia Windows Phone, you'll have to shell out top dollar for the Lumia 900.
The 610 NFC will launch in the UK in the next few months. No word yet on whether it will come down under.
