ViewSonic has unveiled a new series of large-screen, touch-enabled commercial displays for the digital signage market.
The new 42-inch CDP4235T, 46-inch CDP4635T and 65-inch CDP4235T have a 1920-by-1080 HD resolution with up to 500 nits of brightness and 8-millisecond response times.
The smaller CDP4235T and CDP4635T feature a four-point multi-touch screen, while the larger CDP6530T features dual-touch capabilities.
All three displays were announced at InfoComm 2012, and feature Intel’s Open Pluggable Specification slot for integration with media players, along with traditional HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs.
ViewSonic said the new CDP4235T, CDP4635T and CDP4235T are ideal for retail, transportation and other markets leveraging digital displays as an advertisement or informational outlet.
Internal scheduling functionality and a RS232 loop through for automated control allow users to push out and monitor on-going content.
According to Gene Ornstead, director of DTV and business development at ViewSonic, multi-touch, interactive displays like the company’s new family of CDPs are ushering in a new era of digital signage.
"This is an exciting time for the digital signage industry," Ornstead said in a statement. "It's not enough anymore for businesses to simply have a display on the wall. They must have well-executed solutions that engage with customers and draw them into their retail environments.
Our new interactive large format displays are redefining the possibilities of signage, in a variety of sizes, configurations, and price points, to meet every advertising need.”
The digital signage space has become an increasingly lucrative one for channel partners, as it often encompasses the integration of various technologies and services, ranging from the hardware itself to the installation to the content management platforms that run behind the scenes.
As end clients try to avoid having to acquire each of these components separately, they are turning more and more to solution providers, who can serve as a one-stop-shop for the full digital signage package.
A study conducted by ABI Research last year suggests that the global market for digital signage will grow from approximately $US1.3 billion in 2010 to $US4.5 billion in 2016.
In addition to the three new multi-touch displays launched by ViewSonic, the company showcased its upcoming slim-line ePoster, a digital signage display measuring a thin 3.5 inches wide, along with a 32-inch transparent display that is also in the works. Both are expected to launch later this year.
