Patent reveals plans.

Google is working on a tablet/ laptop hybrid thanks to high demand for its recently-launched Nexus 7 tablet, according to an unearthed patent.

The product will follow in the footsteps of Asus' Transformer Pad Infinity and Microsoft's new home-grown Surface tablet.

The patent, discovered by PatentBolt, reveals the device will come bundled with a virtual keyboard and trackpad touchscreen that can be twisted and rotated to give tablet and laptop-style form factors.

The device would also be able to run more than one OS – expected to include Android Jelly Bean and Chrome OS – and the keyboard would activate or deactivate depending on how you use the tablet.

Google is yet to comment on the report.
