Pioneer Computers launches notebook package with Telstra NextG

Australian resellers will have the opportunity to offer SME customers $700 cash back on Pioneer Computers Australia’s entire notebook range when customers sign up for Pioneer’s Telstra NextG package.

In a similar deal to Optus and HP's bundled laptop offer - launched in 2006 - Pioneer Computers is offering customers the chance to receive $700 off any Dreambook with a Telstra mobile broadband device, said Pioneer’s manaign director Jeff Li.

“We have been in talks with Telstra for the past four to five months. This deal gives resellers the opportunity to make 10-20 percent margin on the sale of a product and then an added five percent on the $700 cash back,” he said.

Li claimed the offer targeted the small-to-medium-enterprise (SME) market because that is who most of Pioneer’s dealers are targeting. “Small businesses and medium business – with around 20 staff, tend not be one location and are constantly moving around, they are always on a laptop,” he said.

According to Li, the bundled package was similar to the one launched by HP and Optus a couple of years ago. “Optus ran a similar deal but they targeted the wrong customers and failed,” he said. “Most of our dealers are in the vertical markets and are providing products for various industries because the consumer market if fighting and fighting – but not much money is being made.”

However Li said customers will have to pay $99 per month over 36 months to be able to receive the deal. “Customers will receive $700 off any Dreambook and a Telstra mobile broadband device - a wireless modem that clicks right into the laptop to enable Internet access and 1GB Data on the Telstra NextG network,” he said.

Li claimed customers have 1GB eligible data allowances per month to read and send email, browse the web and download documents – all without network wires. “This offer will transfer customer’s IT equipment expense into Telstra phone bill, reducing cost and Tax for customers,” he said.

The offer is for a limited time only and expires on 30 September.
