It's all been a bit quiet on the Skype for Windows Phone front since Microsoft acquired Skype for US$8.5 billion last year – and after the missed end-of-2011 deadline we were beginning to lose hope of ever seeing the video calling service on Windows Phones.
But the latest whisperings from The Verge now suggest that Skype for Windows Phone 7 Mango devices will be coming soon. The first iteration of Skype will not be deeply integrated within Microsoft's OS until its next iteration – dubbed Apollo – later this year, but we're sure that Windows Phone owners will still welcome free Skype to Skype calls.
Mobile World Congress seems as good a place as any for Microsoft to strut its stuff, so we'll keep an eye out for any Skype-toting Windows Phone devices while we're in Barcelona next month.
