Fresh on the heels of Telstra's first 4G-enabled smartphone, the HTC Velocity 4G, come rumours of a Samsung Galaxy tablet with 4G LTE.
According to Android news site AusDroid, an 'inside source' at Telstra has confirmed the existence of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE, which will launch in either late February or early March. As its name implies, the new Galaxy model will come with an 8.9in display and will be the first 4G LTE tablet in Australia.
We've contacted Samsung's PR about the mystery tablet and are currently awaiting a reply.
If the rumour is indeed true, we expect the benefits of the 4G network -- provided you can actually get it in your area - would be even more pronounced when using a tablet. The larger form factor lends itself to web browing a lot more than your average smartphone. The addition of a tablet would make Telstra's 4G compelling.
