Claims 'rapid take-up'.

Amazon Web Services will run SAP’s All-in-One applications for Windows and Linux in its cloud, a move that advances the availability of ERP business applications as an on-demand service.

Amazon has been working to address security concerns around cloud services and important business applications being hosted outside of enterprise data centres.

In April, it unveiled AWS Marketplace, an online store that allows customers to buy software and services that would help them manage their business on Amazon’s cloud.

The Marketplace offers a variety of business software, including business applications, and listed SAP, IBM, Microsoft, CA, Canonical, and Check Point Software as partners .

“We have seen a rapid increase in businesses deploying SAP solutions on AWS,” Terry Wise, director of AWS Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, said in a statement.

“Whether it’s running SAP applications for development and testing or production applications, businesses can take advantage of the AWS pay-as-you-go model and quickly scale capacity both up and down as needed, paying only for the resources used.”

Amazon also said it’s including Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft’s server for networks, applications and web services, for certification with SAP Rapid Deployment products and SAP Business Objects analytics offerings.

Amazon’s announcement comes days before SAP’s annual Sapphire conference in the United States.
