Inside Datapod's container data centres

Aug 17, 2009

iTnews editor Brett Winterford takes a look inside two container data centre modules developed by Datapod in conjunction with APC. Starting at $400,000, these data centre units can be shipped on the back of a truck and installed just about anywhere you need them. All you need is power, fibre connectivity and water.

The Connection Node. This is the aggregation point for fibre, power and water. It features the mechanical pumps that feed the cooling system. The telco terminates its service at this node while the utilities store their power metres within it. Generators are kept in a seperate 'Utilitypod' (not in shot).
