The Lowdown: Founded in January 2008, Calxeda, formerly known as Smooth-Stone, leverages low-power mobile phone processors in order to bring high-performance, cost-efficient SoCs (System-on-a-Chip) to the data centre.
Calxeda's designs allow manufacturers to pack as many as 120 SoCs onto a 2U-sized chassis through a fabric that interconnects to other processors.
