In pictures: Westcon's new Sydney facilities

Take a guided tour of the expanded Sydney office.

Last night, global technology distributor Westcon Group officially opened the doors to its expanded Australian offices in St Leonards, Sydney.

The redesigned premises boasts a larger warehouse spanning 2300 square metres and an integration centre that provides Westcon's resellers access to a dedicated staging facility.

Westcon staff, channel partners and members of the press gathered prior to the formal office opening.
A slightly forlorn looking classical guitarist provided the pre-launch entertainment.
The new premises were introduced by Westcon Group’s Australian managing director David Henderson, who described the expanded facility as “the end of the beginning”.
Dean Douglas, global CEO of Westcon Group, flew into Australia to formally open the new offices.
Douglas congratulated the local Westcon team for the “incredible transformation” of its local business.

“Our Australian business, year on year, has grown 42 percent,” Douglas boasted. “When I look at our business across the globe, no country has grown that much."

Networking opportunities (and tasty hors d'oeuvres) were in abundance at the Westcon office launch party.
Wine also flowed in impressive quantities.

The venue was packed, with attendees spilling out into the adjoining corridor.
As part of its office renovation, Westcon Group built a 'Wall of Inspiration' which spans the length of the main office.

As its name implies, this is a wall of inspiring quotations from Westcon's own staff that is intended to buoy spirits during tough times (such as end-of-quarter work demands).

"The Wall of Inspiration has been built by our people, for our people," Henderson said. "It's for those moments of adrenaline kicking."
Throughout the festivities, guests were taken out in groups for a guided tour of the facility. (The safety vests were responsible for more than a few fashion faux pas.)
Westcon Group's enlarged warehouse now boasts an impressive footprint of 2300 square metres.
“We have increased the size of our warehouse by nearly 50 per cent so we can carry more stock from our vendors and provide a faster turnaround time for deliveries to our resellers," explained Henderson.
The warehouse has been completely re-racked as part of the redesign. In addition to its boost in size, the warehouse has received several other improvements, including electric stock-pickers, four shipping stations and a new forklift.
According to Westcon, the warehouse currently has a dollar value of $25 million.
The new integration centre provides Westcon’s resellers access to a dedicated staging facility.

“By configuring the solutions to turn-key stage on our premises, resellers can immediately save money on freight and spend less time on their customers’ sites carrying out implementations," said Henderson.

"This means less disruption for the end-user and faster completion of the project for the reseller."

According to Westcon around 30 to 32 thousand units go through the integration centre each year.
The integration centre contains a secure area for resellers who want to go a step further with their own team of technicians.
David Corcoran, CFO Asia for Westcon Group, joked that the reception refurbishment was where most of the money went.
