Microsoft's new public sector boss

Pip Marlow has been appointed public sector director by Microsoft Australia.

In this role Marlow will be responsible for the vendor's government, education and health initiatives, which also encompasses the management of sales and marketing for these sectors. Previously, she held the position of small and medium business sales and partner (SMS&P) director for Microsoft Australia.

“I am very pleased to announce that Pip has been appointed Public Sector Director, leveraging her strong leadership and passion for customers and partners, including working in the Public Sector in conjunction with our partner base,” said Tracey Fellows, managing director, Microsoft Australia.

An employee of Microsoft for 12 years, Marlow’s career began when she landed a position in the Australian subsidiary, she then enjoyed a stint in the US in 1997 after which she returned to Australia in 2004. Her primary focus during this time was OEM and SMS&P.

“This new role presents an exciting opportunity for me professionally, since it enables me to engage with all levels of government, including the exciting new realm of health informatics and e-health initiatives,” said Marlow. “I am also a strong believer in the power of education and to be in a central position to help guide these initiatives is fantastic.”

Marlow’s reputation has made the task of finding her replacement a difficult one, however Microsoft Australia claimed that it is committed to a smooth transition.

“The past three years have been some of the most satisfying and challenging of my career as SMS&P is such an integral part of our business.
