The acquisition of managed services provider Getronics Australia is UXC's largest to date and is predicted to elevate the presence of the ASX-listed services company in the local market.

Getronics is expected to improve UXC’s existing capability in professional and communications services, particularly unified services. It will also provide UXC with new capabilities in managed workspace services, claimed UXC.

“The acquisition supports UXC’s business strategy to be the premier provider of independent business solutions by building market leading positions in areas of existing expertise and high growth areas,” said Cris Nicolli, chief executive officer – Business Solutions Group, UXC.

Headquartered in Sydney, Getronics will join UXC’s Business Solutions Group that services a high-profile, blue chip customer base. Clients include the RTA, Queensland Health, Optus, Medibank, Tabcorp the Department of Defence and Energy Australia.

“Our customers increasingly demand comprehensive solutions and specialist independent advice across the broad range of business solutions. Getronics will increase the breadth and depth of solutions available to UXC’s customers and provider greater choice,” said Nicolli.

The offer is based on a multiple of current earnings and will be paid in cash. UXC will also consider growth in earnings over a benchmark for the 2008 calendar year.
