Fuji Xerox Printers (FXP) has introduced a new product to improve the usability and administration of Citrix XenApp's environment.
The XenApp compliant Print Utility relays the settings of a printer driver onto the ACCP (Auto Created Client Printers) of a Citrix XenApp Server to improve the speed of printing documents, said Tom Lewis, marketing manager for FXP A/NZ.
He told
CRN
, the capability was developed to make it easier for resellers and distributors to sell printers to customers.
“Some customers face problems printing in a Citrix environment and our Print Utility resolves the problems of bandwidth utilisation and allows users to have full access to a printer’s functionality,” he said.
According to Lewis, FXP printer drivers include a compression utility
that can reduce print data by up to 70 percent. He claimed this allows the vendor's printers to operate in low bandwidth environments and reduce network traffic between Citrix XenApp servers and client PCs.
Lewis added the Print Utility for Citrix XenApp displays the document name in the job history feature, making it easier to identify the types of documents held in a print queue.
He claimed the software functions include duplex printing, faxing from multi-function printers, finishing options.
It also offers staple, punch and booklet features, optional paper tray for loading different media sizes.
“An automatic update of client modules is also available and each client will have the ability to download and install the latest version of the Print Utility for Citrix XenApp when it becomes available,” he added.
According to Lewis, the application is available at no cost and has been
certified as Citrix Ready for the following models; DocuPrint C3290 FS; DocuPrint 340A; DocuPrint 305; DocuPrint 2065; DocuPrint 3055; DocuPrint C1110 / C1110 B; DocuPrint C2100; DocuPrint C3210 DX; DocuPrint C3055 DX; DocuPrint C2255; and DocuPrint C4350.
