Konica Minolta enlisted Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, MP Andrew Robb, to speak at its Innovation seminar this week.
The company had invited Malcolm Turnbull MP to the event but following news he was appointed leader of the Liberal Party, he had to cancel.
According to John Venett, national marketing manager at Konica Minolta, the company has gone on tour with a series of seminars called Innovation: Mind the Gap, uncovering the links in Australian organisations between innovation and productivity.
“Given the pace of technological change, the key to successful innovation is to ensure appropriate training is in place for employees,” said Robb (pictured).
“Flexibility in the workplace for employees is also a particularly important consideration given the demographic challenges and major skills shortages facing Australia.
“I believe the role of Government is not to prescribe innovation but to remove the potential barriers and allow businesses to innovate efficiently,” he added.
The roadshow has gone on tour to Sydney, Parramatta, Glen Waverley, Melbourne and Brisbane, Canberra and Perth. Robb attended the session in Canberra on Wednesday.
