The two day showcase was held at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre to show VMWare’s market leadership and demonstrate how virtualisation can transform businesses.

A highlight of the event was the A/NZ Partner Awards which recognises the growth partners make in the region.

Winners were; Advantage & Partner Award; Datacom Australia, Partner Technical Achievement Award; Gen-i, Rising Star Award; ViFX, Market Maker Award; Dimension Data and Regional Parnter of the Year Award; Thomas Duryea.

Steven Boi national practice manager Dimension Data, data centre solutions, accepted the award on behalf of Ronnie Altit, general manager Dimension Data data centre solutions.

“We were delighted to receive the award. We have invested significantly in the whole virtualisation space of which VMWare form a critical and huge component,” said Altit.

“Given that VMWare is building such a significant relationship with some key vendors, including Cisco, EMC, NetApp and Symantec, we feel we are well placed to take to market solutions across the entire virtualisation suite,” he added.

According to Mike Clayville, vice president VMWare APAC, the company’s success in APAC is due to its long standing commitment to address its customer's needs.

He said it focuses on three areas; continuing to be at the forefront in developing simple to use virtualisation technologies, investing in a strong partner ecosystem and trying to expand its presence across the region.

The VMWare community and ecosystem in Asia includes more than 15,000 customers and 3,000 partners.

In the first six months of 2008 it doubled the number of APAC offices to more than 20 with a 30 percent growth on partner base.

“Customers across Asia Pacific are telling us that virtualisation is a top priority to help them gain significant business benefits and VMWare is a strategic IT partner to enable this,” said Clayville.

Platinum partners who sponsored the event included Cisco, Dell, EMC, HP, IBM, Intel, NetApp, Symantec, and Wyse.
