Polycom unveils video network management solution

Polycom has launched a visual communications solution that unites telepresence and desktop video.

The Converged Management Application (CMA) is a video network management solution that makes it easier for an organisation to deploy, provision and manage visual communication.

It also uses CMA Desktop, a desktop video application for PCs that supports high definition (HD) video, voice and content.

“By addressing ease-of-use and management issues that often limited adoption and use of traditional video conferencing, Polycom is delivering telepresence within a broader visual communication solution and architecture,” said Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of video solutions at Polycom.

The integration allows Polycom telepresence solutions and CMA Desktop clients to share presence information (e.g. in use, on- or off-line, “do not disturb”) within a common contact list that can be used with corporate directories (Active Directory, LDAP).

Users can initiate video calls with the solution and video clients can click on names within the contact list.
