BT has been appointed platinum channel Business Partner for Avaya in Asia Pacific.

The company completed the accreditation training requirements by delivering converged communications, measured by levels of business engagement, customer service and professional qualifications.

This accreditation is in addition to BT's Avaya global gold status - the only global channel Business Partner to achieve this in the region.

According to Michael Boustridge, president, BT APAC and Americas said the company began working with Avaya in April 2000.

"In eight years we have become one of its channels to market in Asia Pacific and all over the world," he said.

"This latest accreditation underlines the strength of our position in the market and our ability to offer customers complete networked infrastructure services and true converged solutions from best-of-breed suppliers like Avaya."

The platinum status highlights the strengths of the joint service proposition, which combine Avaya's enterprise portfolio of IP telephony and communications applications and BT's international systems integration expertise.

BT has more than 250 network customers supported on the Avaya MultiVantage enterprise IP Telephony platform.

"Avaya channel business partners play a key role in our go-to-market strategy in Asia Pacific and it is our aim to be all our customers' and channel partners' vendor of choice," said Chee Heng Loon Avaya's managing director, APAC Channels & Alliances.

"Together we align ourselves with customer requirements to provide them with the right solutions that keep them competitive in the marketplace."
