SAP has launched the SAP Business Suite 7 software enabling businesses to optimise their performance and reduce IT cost.

The Business Suite has more than 150 functions with packages including SAP ERP, SAP Customer Relationship Management, SAP Supplier Relationship Management, SAP Supply Chain Management and SAP Product Lifecycle Management.

The packages allow customers to select and deploy the functionality they need without upgrading their solution.

Doug Gibson director of product and solutions for SAP A/NZ said the launch is part of a program to improve the company's solution set.

"We want to simplify the SAP portfolio and take the total cost of ownership down," he said.

"Before, we used to do upgrades and now we have released enhancement packs so that customers can take the foundation and add more functions."

According to Gibson, SAP is always looking for new partners and hired Adam Edmondson as general manager of Indirect Sales A/NZ last year to manage the indirect small and mid-size enterprise sales team and 28 channel partners.

He will focus on driving SAP's market share in the SME sector and grow business through the SAP partner network.

"The SAP Business Suite 7 means different things for partners and resellers," said Gibson.

"For our system integrator partners the software offers a lot more capability for them. For our resellers who sell products like our All in One and Business One package it depends on what their clients are looking for.  We can provide our resellers with various options," he added.

"IBM will be one of the first global AMS and implementation providers to fully adopt the end-to-end solution operations approach provided by Run SAP into its application management services," said Dr. Uwe Hommel, executive vice president, Active Global Support, SAP AG.

"The new SAP Business Suite 7 makes enterprise support even more important to customers, and companies such as IBM that are adopting the Run SAP methodology are well prepared to help customers derive the full value from investments in SAP solutions."
