FileMaker has announced that Bento 2 is a finalist in the category of Best Database Management Software for a 2009 Codie Award.

The annual awards are voted on by members of the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA).

SIIA will name the winners during the Codie Awards on 5 May in San Francisco.

"It is the first time Bento has been nominated for a CODiE," said Steve McManus (pictured), general manager APAC for FileMaker.

"We are delighted that the award judges have recognised the significance, value and quality of Bento 2, and included it as a finalist in the 'Best Database Management Software' category.

"The software and information industry advances in leaps and bounds, and being recognised by your peers for staying ahead of the pack in such a dynamic environment is a major achievement."

Bento 2 is the newest version of the personal database from FileMaker designed specifically for Mac OS X v.10.5.4 Leopard.

It can help Mac users organise their lives by giving them one place to put information from contacts and calendars to projects and events.

Nearly 190 judges including technology trade journalists, consultants, educators, IT and product specialists, have reviewed all of the products entered.

The finalists were chosen from more than 850 nominations submitted by 600 companies.

FileMaker develops database software. Its products include the FileMaker Pro product line for Windows, Mac and the Web, and the new Bento personal database for Mac.
