Intermec is looking to increase the number of A/NZ resellers it has for its printer product range.

The company currently has 16 hardware resellers as well as a number of independent software vending partners.

It has one distributor which is Avnet and plans to launch some new products in the next three months.

"Our engagement through distribution is improving to make sure resellers have access to more resources for lead generation and more access to marketing funds," said Tony Repaci managing director A/NZ for Intermec.

"We are building on what we have to increase coverage of the printer market segment. Some of our printers offer a unique advantage and resellers will be able to go into a new segment of that market including field services.

Repaci said the A/NZ economy is buoyant and still in a position to make investments.

He said Intermec has been affected by the exchange rate but continues to see positive capital investment.

Intermec develop, manufacture and integrate technologies that identify, track and manage supply chain assets.

Core technologies include RFID, mobile computing and data collection systems, bar code printers and label media.

Mike Wills, senior vice president, global sales and service Intermec, said the global economy is creating a lot of pressure on the demand side for businesses.

"Although IT spending is down for 2009 business intelligence type projects continue to be funded. Priorities have changed given the economic conditions and the main emphasis is on surviving this storm," said Wills.

"We can help resellers improve their business operations. It's not about customer loyalty and customer service it's all about inventory and asset management, that is our expertise," he added.
