Check Point completes Nokia acquisition

Check Point Software Technologies has completed the acquisition of the Nokia security appliance business, a culmination of a 12 year strategic partnership.

Scott McKinnel, regional director A/NZ, Check Point, said, the company now has a variety of security solutions.

"Through this acquisition, Check Point will be able to better meet customers' needs and preferences with the latest security software on the leading hardware platforms," he said.

"Check Point's unique Software Blade Architecture lets customers select the exact security protections they need for a given environment, and Check Point's comprehensive line of appliances lets customers deploy their custom gateway on the hardware of their choice.

"By combining the resources and technologies of the two companies, Check Point is poised to once again redefine the industry."

In addition to Check Point UTM-1 and Power-1 appliances, businesses can purchase former Nokia IP hardware running Check Point security software, through Check Point.

The IP appliances come pre-loaded with either Check Point R70, Check Point's latest security gateway based on Software Blade Architecture, or Check Point NGX R65.

Nokia IP appliances are now available from Check Point and existing Nokia customer support contracts will be supported by Check Point, including support for older platforms and OS versions.
