SMARTS Group to grow its markets and products

The provider of market surveillance solutions has hired Aldo Martinez, former vice president, market surveillance, NYSE Regulation and Dr Chris Beare, a prominent Australian investment and technology leader to its Board.

Martinez, is an expert in market surveillance. He recently left NYSE Regulation, after 30 years in senior executive roles. 

His most recent role was vice president, market surveillance division, responsible for regulatory and legal matters including representation in all trading investigations conducted by the market surveillance division involving federal securities laws and NYSE rules regulatory. 

Prior to that, he managed the market trading analysis II department which was responsible for the detection and investigation of insider trading, and market manipulation at the NYSE. He is now an independent consultant.

Joining him on the Board is Dr Chris Beare (pictured). 

Dr Beare has over 20 years experience in directorship and chairman roles with companies such as Dexus Property Group, m.Net Corporation, NICTA, BBB Capital, Eccosphere, and technology venture capital company Accede Capital.

He has maintained a portfolio of business interests including, technology start-up companies and companies changing their management culture.

Dr Mike Aitken, chairman of SMARTS Group said the appointments will give the Board a deeper insight into its customers and bringing their skills and experiences to implement its plans for growth.

Martinez and Dr Beare join the existing board of; chairman and co-founder, Aitken; CEO, Dr Andreas Furche; co-founder, Tom Jones and Dr David Skellern.

SMARTS Group is an Australian based technology company with over 40 national exchange and regulatory customers as well as 150 brokers across 30 countries.
