Fuji Xerox Australia and RMIT this week launched a managed print centre at the University’s Brunswick campus, which caters to the school’s graphic design students.

The new print centre is one of four Fuji Xerox-managed sites at RMIT, with a service hub located at the university's Bundoora campus, and a student copy centre and new customer service hub located at the Melbourne CBD campus. The new Brunswick site and CBD customer service hub effectively replace services offered by a former site in the CBD, with Steve Jordan, Victoria State Manager for Fuji Xerox Australia, describing the transition as "seamless".

RMIT vice-president of resources Stephen Somogyi officially opened the Brunswick facility, saying that "Fuji Xerox has demonstrated its expertise and dedication to RMIT through its execution of the managed print service and willingness to help our students."

The Brunswick site, which is equipped with Fuji Xerox Nuvera 288 and Nuvera 144 production systems, is also much smaller than its CBD predecessor.

"Using modern devices and workflow techniques, Fuji Xerox is able to provide the same capability and high standards of service with a smaller footprint, which reduces the University's real estate overhead," claimed Jordan.

In March this year, RMIT signed an agreement with Canon Australia that saw the company donate an imagePRESS C1 digital press to the university, whilst Océ Australia donated a CPS900 Platinum digital colour printer in May.
