The company is also looking for channel partners after opening offices in Perth and Canberra.

Michael Chetner country manager A/NZ Polycom said he is looking for service providers, system integrators, those with skills in voice and data networks and Unified Communications.

"We don't have a set number as such but we are looking at the quality of resellers out there to address the end users needs," he said.

"Polycom has been successful in the last few months and because of the current financial crisis we have been getting more interest in our video solutions especially as companies cut travel budgets.

"We have also seen an uptake of the government stimulus spending and some of the incentives such as 30 percent rebate on capital purchases

Polycom HDX 6000, which will be available to buy next month features high-definition (HD) video, voice and content sharing for less than AU$9,000.

Chetner said SMBs have always found video technology difficult to afford but this is affordable.

"SMBs deal with disperse businesses across the country and internationally. In terms of their business model they need to be innovative and quick to be responsive," he added.

"With the HDX 600 they can justify the cost level and resellers have the tools to go to market to support the channel."

The system has a plug and play feature allowing two-way conversations it also offers optional remote or onsite installation services.

Polycom recently appointed Chris Boardman as WA regional sales manager.

He previously worked at one of the company's channel partners, KLM as sales manager/project specialist audio visual, WA.

His responsibilities include further developing the channel base in WA.

Polycom HDX 6000 is orderable July 1, 2009 worldwide through certified Polycom channel partners from US$6,749.
