ShoreTel has signed a UC system deal with Cooma-Monaro Shire Council in New South Wales saving the company more than $20,000 annually on telephony costs.

The Shire Council plans a minimum 15-year life from the ShoreTel system, which has been rolled out to 85 employees at offices and satellite locations, including a depot, public library and visitor centre.

The council provides local government administration for more than 10,000 people living in and around Cooma.

Scott Goudie, IT manager with the Cooma-Monaro Shire Council said it now has a solution that integrates voice with desktop and mobile communications so staff can easily communicate no matter where they are.

The council said it also saving an average of $1,600 per month on the voice link.

Vasili Triant, managing director ShoreTel S.E. Asia said the deal with Cooma-Monaro Shire Council was a local milestone for the company.

"The local government sector is critical to our growth plans in the region. We see a lot of upside with local councils looking for easy to use features and the lowest total cost of ownership in the market." he said.

ShoreTel has been on a big recruitment drive for partners over the last few months. It is currently on the look out for partners and will make some announcements over the coming weeks.

Current distributors include  WhiteGold Communications and Aria Communication
