Canon Australia has signed a deal which will see MAN Ferrostaal reselling and servicing Canon’s digital production print range.

According to the company, "Canon will continue to sell through its existing direct sales channel and provide support through Canon service technicians", with the deal primarily representing MAN Ferrostaal's first steps into the digital print market.

"We believe that in the next 10-15 years a very large percentage of print will be done on digital printers and this technology will become a very important part of our customer's print press arsenal," said MAN Ferrostaal Australia chief executive Markus Haefeli. "We have taken the decision that MAN Ferrostaal will be a part of this and we are absolutely convinced that together with a company like Canon we will have an excellent product portfolio to successfully penetrate this market and become a leading supplier of digital solutions to our customer base."

For Canon, the agreement is part of its plan to broaden its sales channel.

"Earlier this year we set about building a new channel-focused go-to-market model," said Craig Manson, senior general manager of marketing at Canon Australia. "As the digital print market expands we want our technologies available to more people in more places."

Canon products included in the deal will be the imagePRESS C7000VP, C6000 and its monochrome imagePRESS 1110, 1125 and 1135 series.
