Distributor adds a free year of subscription.

AVG, the Australian/New Zealand distributor of AVG Anti-Virus and Internet Security products has brought out a subscription deal for business licences.

The campaign offered SMB customers an extra year of protection on every two-year license purchased with a new business network product.

Lloyd Borrett, marketing manager at AVG told CRN that renewals and upgrades were also included in the deal.

Borrett believed the deal would be popular with its resellers because it would help "boost sales and increase revenues".

"If resellers are able to offer three years of security protection for the usual price of two years, they're going to be able to close more SMB sales," he said.

"Resellers received a recurring revenue stream from licence renewals and this helps them to maximise their residual income stream."

A channel partner could receive an initial discount of 20 percent which could yield higher returns, said Borrett.

"We also have an aggressive graduated discount structure which ensures even higher returns for resellers with high sales volumes," he said.

The products included in the offer were; AVG Anti-Virus Network Edition; AVG Internet Security Network Edition; AVG Anti-Virus SBS Edition; AVG Internet Security SBS Edition; AVG Email Server Edition; and AVG File Server Edition.

The renewal options were; Renewal; Renewal/Upgrade; and Renewal/Increase.

However, Borrett said Renewal/Increase wasn't available for online purchases, but could be made by contacting AVG (AU/NZ).

"This special offer also applies to government, education, church, charity and non-profit organisations," he said.

"Until 30 October 2009 the purchase of a qualifying two-year licence from our reseller portal automatically entitles the reseller's customer to a third year of protection at no additional cost."

Licences must be registered by resellers prior to 30 November 2009 for this offer to apply, said Borrett.
