Brings SAP's former consulting head in-house.

IT services business Oakton has become a SAP partner and employed Sean Mathieson to drive the company's SAP capability nationally.

Under the agreement, Oakton will provide SAP architecture and consulting services to "enterprise clients and government agencies looking to introduce new SAP capability or to develop their SAP investments and infrastructure".

Consulting services would cover areas including business process improvement, application strategy, process integration and data management solutions

Mathieson, a founding member of SAP Australia, will manage. He was SAP Australia's regional consulting director.

Oakton chief executive officer Neil Wilson said it "will provide considerable benefit and opportunity to SAP's large commercial and public sector customers".

"Oakton is aligned with SAP's growth initiatives and we expect to grow SAP's customer base in vertical industries, by supporting existing customers as well as working with new customers," he said.

SAP A/NZ managing director Tim Ebbeck said it was "great to have Oakton on board as an SAP partner".

"I have no doubt Oakton will be a real asset to the SAP ecosystem and I'm really looking forward to working closely with them," Ebbeck said.
