Security vendor targets Western Australia.

Unified threat management (UTM) Cyberoam has appointment TechPlus Distribution as its latest Australian distributor.

TechPlus became Cyberoam's second Australian distie after the Indian security vendor signed MPA Systems last year.

Since the MPA signing Cyberoam has appointed resellers along Australia's east coast. Yesterday's announcement signifies its move to broaden its reach.

TechPlus is based in Sydney and Melbourne but has a strong presence in Perth, said Alkesh Soneji, country manager for Cyberoam.

"Cyberoam chose TechPlus because it has a strong channel presence on the western coast of Australia, which is where MPA was typically not present it will give that edge in terms of reaching out and supporting," he said.

Soneji also said he chose TechPlus because the distributor was "experienced in selling UTM and brings the expertise and experience required for the distribution of UTM Solutions."

Paul Kern, owner of TechPlus Distribution said he saw an opportunity in the market with TechPlus.

"We have looked at and handled several products in the past [but Cyberoam] fits the Australian market really well," said Kern.

"There are quite a few UTM vendors out there but only a few that use the full functionality at the right price point for small to medium enterprises," he said.

Initially, TechPlus will market the product to it's existing "strong and loyal customer base" and then look to add system integrators and resellers down the line.

Cyberoam has offices in Woburn, MA, USA and India.
