Family connection remains within the distribution organisation.

Mike Veverka, CEO of ASX-listed software/e-commerce company Manaccom Limited, has confirmed with CRN the termination of its distribution division's co-founder, James Mackay.

This morning CRN reported that Mackay sent an email to distributor's partners, retailers, developers and vendors via email announcing his termination.

Veverka told CRN he couldn't discuss the reasons behind Mackay's termination because Mackay was still under contract. He claimed he was currently consulting with lawyers to find out if Mackay had breached that contract by announcing his termination.

Up until last week Mackay was running a separate company within Manaccom's distribution division called Sellerbyte, said Veverka.

The company developed two software products called '2Large2Email', which helped people email large files, and an intranet-based filing systems software dubbed "Ecofiling".

Veverka said there was little interest in the products.

"It was just new product ideas being tested [and] it has met with limited success," he said.

"The company is still there and is [being looked after] by two existing staff members."

Sellerbyte will continue to operate on a month by month basis, with Veverka saying, "We will see how it goes".

Mackay's termniation followed the resignation of his father Ian Mackay as CEO of Manaccom's distie division.

Veverka said he had stepped in as the acting CEO until a replacement could be found in the "new year".

"Ian has been talking about retiring for the past two years," he said.

"Stuart and Amy Mackay, James' brother and sister, are still employed in the distribution division and [continue] to do a great job."

Veverka said the software/e-commerce company will be a better position to discuss its future when it releases its half yearly results.
