Independent retailers and mass merchants miss out.

Apple plans to bring it's special one-off shopping event - dubbed Black Friday - to Australia.

The event is held on on Friday 27th of November, the day after the US celebrates its Thanksgiving holiday.

An Apple spokesman confirmed with CRN the sale will be available at Australian Apple stores.

He stated products will only be available on sale through the vendor's Apple Online Store (apple.com.au or 133622) and its own branded stores.

At this point, Apple hasn't revealed what products will be on sale or how much of a discount customers will receive.

Independent retailers and resellers weren't phased by the one-off sale.

Mass merchant retailers, KMart, JB Hi Fi and Dick Smith have all advertised discounts on Apple products.

However independent Apple authorised reseller, Mac to Front won't be discounting products at all, said owner David Macintosh.

"Margins are getting tighter and tighter," he said. "Margins are already at about five percent."

Macintosh said margins were so low, he saw no point in reducing them further.

"If everyone was playing at an even playing field and selling at RRP prices than we would do it," he said.
