Looks to offer a postpaid mobile voice service.

Internode will offer a mobile voice service starting next year, according to the ISP's product manager Jim Kellett.

The ISP currently uses Optus to serve its wireless broadband customers and said it would begin to resell a SIM-only (voice) service in the first half of 2010.

"It will be just another way [to] add another one of your services to Internode," Kellett said.

The most likely scenario would be a reseller agreement in which Internode sells voice services on the Optus network, Kellett said.

"We would just be rebilling the Optus service."

The hard work, Kellett said, would be ensuring Internode's billing system could cope with the provision of a mobile voice service.

"It becomes an exercise more in billing, because mobile phone plans are a mysterious animal with the caps and the excess and what's included," he said.

The service would be offered postpaid rather than prepaid as that was "more our speed," said Kellett.
