Vendor launches managed security services channel scheme

Security vendor WatchGuard Technologies is aiming to help value-added resellers build lucrative services revenue streams with the launch of its Managed Security Services Programme (MSSP).

The program's centrepiece is a remote management offering, allowing partners to monitor end users' security appliances from any location. End users can also benefit from a tailored security services line-up which can be changed on an ongoing basis.

Core services offered through MSSP include intrusion prevention, firewall, virtual private networking, web blocking, URL filtering, anti-spam and anti-virus offerings. Higher end services can also be laid on top, including event monitoring, penetration testing and compliance management.

MSSP also provides resellers with an array of marketing tools to drum up services business. Mark Romano, director of global channel marketing at WatchGuard, claimed the programme would make it easier and less costly for VARs to branch into services provision.

"As businesses turn to cloud computing and service-based models to reduce operation costs, it makes sense for WatchGuard partners around the world to be ready and able to provide the next big thing in security – high-performance managed security services," he said.

"As 2010 approaches, WatchGuard partners will be well positioned to take advantage of today's changing IT and business environment."
