Adds third distie to Open Platform products.

Asus has widened its distribution agreement with computer and components supplier Altech to include its Open Platform products, which include motherboards, servers and monitors.

Altech has an existing agreement with Asus to distribute its notebooks, servers, barebone and network products.

This announcement makes Altech the third distie to supply the Open Platform products with agreements in place with Synnex and Achieva.

Eric Chang, Open Platform, business group manager said the deal expands Asus's regional reach.

"The partnership with Altech strengthens our channel strategy for 2010, allowing us to expand to more regional areas and continue to provide high quality service across Australia and New Zealand," he said.

Altech's managing director Antony Sheen said, Asus is "synonymous with quality and performace and complements the distie's portfolio in high-end gaming, enthusiast and performance computing markets.

"Altech's commitment to deliver leading edge products to these market segments is significantly enhanced by the addition of ASUS motherboards, graphic cards, sound cards, optical drives and monitors," Sheen said.

Altech declined to add further comment. Asus is yet to respond to CRN's calls.
