Resellers to offer ‘Technology Guarantee’.

Microsoft today launched a program that allowed new Office 2007 customers to upgrade to Office 2010 for free.

Consumers who activated new copies of Office 2007 between today and 30 September would be eligible for a free upgrade, as long as they also had a valid Windows Live ID.

The so-called "Office 2010 Technology Guarantee" program would offer Office 2010 as a free download until 31 October.

The software would also be made available via DVD at a "small fee" to cover handling costs, a spokesperson said. The fee would be determined before Office 2010 became available.

"Resellers have already been made aware of the program, have received all sales and marketing materials and are offering the Office 2010 Technology Guarantee to customers today," the spokesperson told CRN.
