Outsourcing spat continues.

Canon remains embroiled in a Fair Work Australia (FWA) dispute about transferring staff to its integrator partner, CSG.

In an FWA hearing Thursday afternoon, Canon technicians represented by the Australian Services Union (ASU) said they had not been properly consulted before their jobs were transferred to CSG.

Canon plans to transfer around 40 technicians to CSG on 1 July, to support a billion-dollar multi-function device deal.

ASU National Industrial Officer Jo Justo hoped to reach a resolution in front of the national workplace relations tribunal, FWA, Thursday.

But the dispute continues, she said, with technicians taking issue with the selection process by which Canon chose staff who would be transferred.

The ASU understood that Canon will stick to its 1 July timeline.

"We continue to be in dispute with Canon Australia, and anticipate further FWA action," she said, declining to disclose more details as both parties are now bound by a confidentiality agreement.

A Canon spokesman confirmed that the company remained in discussions with the ASU and FWA.

"We are continuing to work together to resolve this; the discussions are continuing," he said.
