Hitachi Data Systems has signed up to push US-based CommVault data management and protection products worldwide.
The two US-based companies said that Hitachi Data Systems would use CommVault's QiNetix product suite to "strengthen" its application optimised storage.
The new offering would be branded the "Hitachi Data Protection Suite, powered by CommVault" in all world markets and integrated into Hitachi's business continuity offering framework.
Under the multi-year agreement, both vendors would provide support, training and professional services to customers and work together on new products and features.
The deal built on the companies' existing relationship.
Jack Domme, storage management software vice-president at Hitachi Data Systems, said the vendor wanted to offer a set of management tools that were common to its whole storage product line.
"Our partnership with CommVault to seamlessly integrate Hitachi Data Protection Suite, complements our software suite of products and enables us to address the needs of the data protection market," Domme said.
Bob Hammer, chief executive at CommVault, said integrating QiNetix technology with HDS' storage software married two architectures.
He believed it would improve the companies' application and data protection offering.
