Pair continue their dominance of prestigious annual awards.

Microsoft has awarded industry veterans Wayne Small and distributor Tegatech's principal Hugo Ortega the software giant's most valuable professionals this year.

Small received the award in the small-business server category for the 10th year; Ortega (pictured standing, above) was rewarded for his outstanding contributions in the Windows touch and tablet PC segment for the fifth time.

The award recognised exceptional technical community leaders from around the world who shared their knowledge on Microsoft technologies.

Microsoft said fewer than 5000 people globally held the award; 47 IT professionals were awarded in the small-business server category. Ortega was the only Australia of 16 worldwide to receive the tablet award.

Small joined StorageCraft  in August and stepped away from his IT consulting company, Correct Solutions.

"I am pleased to be recognised on behalf of the SMB community who share my passion for the value that Microsoft deliver to businesses, from small to large enterprises," Small said.

Ortega said that although he "contribute[s] freely to the community" he was "always uncertain" if his contributions hit the mark or "been of the value that is deemed worthy of this award".
