PowerCorp closes distribution centre.

IP networking distributor Lan 1 has merged with Sydney-based networking distributor PowerCorp.

The deal was described as a merger and not an acquisition.

PowerCorp closed its Hornsby distribution centre and relocated to Lan 1’s inner-ctiy Sydney office.

Two out of the three PowerCorp staff would continue working under Lan 1. PowerCorp founder and managing director Brian Killin has joined Lan 1 under contract.

The merger “fast tracked” Lan 1's strategy to focus on its wired IP networking portfolio. Lan 1 bought TR Telecom’s broadband division last year to bolster its wireless networking play.

Lan 1 said it would support all of PowerCorp’s existing products and vendors. These include LANTRONIX, BARIX, Perle, GarrettCom and Asentria.

“We have identified the wired IP networking sector as our next area of growth," said Mathew Bertram, marketing manager at Lan 1.

“We are also looking forward to welcoming PowerCorp’s channel partners onboard.

"We are excited about the convergence of two highly focused reseller channels and anticipate a large number of new opportunities to arise as a result," he said.

Lan 1 planned a mid-year national road show to present the full portfolio of products.

"This should be a good "merger" with a tight product synergy. Good luck with the new product lines Daniel and nicely done Brian."
