Makryllos joins communications integrator.

Industry veteran Gordon Makryllos has left his post at data centre provider APC to head up French communications integrator Orange Business Services.

Orange today announced its appointment of Makryllos as managing director, Australia and New Zealand.

After six successful years as APC's Australian General Manager, Makryllos said he looked forward to doing "what I enjoy doing, which is growing a business".

At Orange, he planned to address a growing demand for secure networks, as customer organisations embraced cloud computing.

"I wouldn't have left [APC] had another great opportunity not come my way," he told CRN.

Makryllos replaced Tim Cavill, who left Orange after almost three years in the role for a leadership position in healthcare company International SOS.

The integrator has more than 250 staff in Australasia and Tier III data centre facilities in Sydney, serving 540 multinational companies in Australia and 175 in New Zealand.

Orange’s announcement noted Makryllos’ “passionate approach to transformational leadership” and experience in ICT and data centre businesses.

Prior to joining APC, Makryllos held channel, marketing and sales roles at Telstra, IBM and HP.
