Apple iOS 5.1 leaks

Features include slide-to-unlock camera.

Portuguese blog BlogdoiPhone has leaked images of what it's claiming is the pre-Golden Master build of iOS 5.1, showing off a few new tweaks to the interface.

The most striking new feature, as seen in the image above, is a swipe-to-unlock camera icon that's now a permanent fixture of the lock screen – iOS 5 required users to double-tap the home button in order to access the camera icon.

Apple iOS 5.1 Japanese Siri

Also incoming in iOS 5.1 is Japanese language support for Siri, a feature previously hinted at by Apple's Virtual Assistant itself.

iOS 5.1 rich text format in Notes app

In a separate leak, Greek blog iPhone Hellas has shown off a screenshot purportedly demonstrating rich text format in iOS's Notes app. While the rich text format arrived on the Mail app in iOS 5, the Notes app hasn't been feeling the love. That should change, with different font sizes, coloured text, bullet points and other formatting tweaks set to arrive in iOS 5.1.

As usual, take these rumours with the requisite pinch of salt. If Apple's previous iOS launches are anything to go by, we should be getting confirmation on those new features around the time of the iPad 3's rumoured March 7th launch.
