Expands collaborative app lineup.

Citrix has completed its acquisition of Podio, the developer of online collaborative work applications that Citrix will add to its GoTo cloud services portfolio.

Citrix did not disclose the cost of the acquisition.

Podio's collaborative work applications help small and midsize businesses, as well as teams within bigger companies, manage business processes, workflows and social collaboration activities. A project team developing an advertising campaign could use Podio to manage their work, for example, while a human resource team could use it to recruit and hire a new employee.

Because of its cloud-service nature, Podio can be used by people inside a company, by employees working remotely, and by external partners and contractors.

Citrix described Podio as "a natural extension of the Citrix collaboration business." The company said it will offer more details about its plans for Podio at the company's upcoming Citrix Synergy conference in San Francisco in May.

"Podio extends our ability to provide a simple, secure and 'works for everyone' collaborative work platform in this post-PC era," said Brett Caine, senior vice president and general manager for the Citrix Online Services Division, in a statement. "The Podio technology is a powerful and innovative solution that is a natural fit with the Citrix portfolio and will help foster amazing innovation in the workplace."
