Toshiba launches mammoth tablet to Aussies

Toshiba has unleashed three new tablet devices for the Australian market, including a 13.3-inch beast.

The AT330, whose size makes it comparable to mid-range laptops, is the largest of the three devices, sitting alongside 7.7-inch and 10.1-inch versions.

Toshiba is marketing the AT330 as a “coffee table accompaniment” for content viewing around the house. It carries a 1600x900 pixel resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio and four-speaker sound system. 

A Toshiba spokesperson said the size difference in the range offered consumers a variety of choice for viewing content.

The 13.3-inch monster and its siblings all run Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, combined with 1GB memory and 16GB storage. It has a 5MP back and 2MP front camera.

The AT330 boasts micro HDMI, micro SD and micro USB ports, weighs just under a kilo and is just under 10 millimetres thick. It will drop in late June for $699. 

Joining their big sister are the 7.7-inch AT270 and 10.1-inch AT300. The AT300 carries micro HDMI, micro USB and micro SD ports, while its smaller sibling ditches the micro HDMI slot.

Both tablets will retail for $539 when they go on sale in late June. 

*Update 10:14am 15.6.12: Toshiba today announced the AT330 has a full size SD card slot and Bluetooth V3.0. It previously marketed the tablet as being equipped with a micro SD port and Bluetooth 4.0
