Nokia's 41MP-toting 808 PureView handset is now available for pre-order from Amazon, but will not make it down under.
The handset will sell for £500 ($A770) from July 30 via the online retailer but a Nokia spokesperson confirmed to CRN the company would not be selling the smartphone in Australia.
"Our smartphone focus in Australia and New Zealand is Nokia with Windows Phone, which we believe is the best fit for Australians and Kiwis," a spokesperson said.
"We are not looking to bring the Nokia 808 PureView to this market, however, you will see variations of PureView imaging technology delivered to several Nokia products in the future."
The smartphone is renowned for its large 41MP camera. Nokia has confirmed the PureView imaging technology seen in the Symbian-powered smartphone will make its way to its Windows Phone-run Lumia device, but declined to comment on whether the same size sensor would be included in future Lumia devices.
