Next-gen prototypes reveal new technology.

Rumours of an iPhone 5 with NFC are cementing after hardware data from the smartphone's prototypes yielded evidence of the chips.

Apple is expected to unveil an iPhone with Near Field Communication controllers directly connected to the Power Management Unit when the smartphone is released later this year.

Data from iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5,2 prototypes, codenamed N41AP (5,1) and N42AP (5,2) have revealed information about advanced file sharing technology, reports 9to5mac.

Apple has long been reported to be looking at NFC technology for its smartphones, originally expected to be included in the iPhone 4S.

The company was granted a patent for NFC last March.
