US exec settles in down under.

Avaya has appointed a new managing director for the A/NZ region, with the company’s Government Solutions sales vice president Tim Gentry stepping up to the plate.

Avaya had been on the hunt for a new local boss since former managing director Rob Wells departed in February to head up SaaS provider Workday’s local operation.

Avaya channel and marketing director Rick Seeto had been serving in the role in the interim. Seeto has relocated to Singapore and will continue in his former position.

Gentry joined Avaya’s Australian executive team two months ago. He previously held positions at Nortel, prior to and following Avaya’s acquisition of the company in late 2009.
